Social Enterprise

Bringing young people into the world of work through meaningful life projects

The UK is one of the world leaders for social enterprise.

EMPLOYMENT

There’s an estimated 62,000 social enterprises in the UK. These contribute over £24 billion to the economy plus employment of nearly one million people.

COMMUNITIES

Social enterprises have existed around the world since the 19th century, aiming to help their communities.

GROWTH

Social enterprise is one of the fastest growing movements in the UK, and is more than ever becoming an important part of today’s communities and economy.

CWP Enterprises

CWP is an Employment College and houses a wealth of opportunity for all. When CWP opened its doors in August 2014, our main goal was to deliver transferable life skills, hands on experience and academic qualifications in a work based learning environment. To achieve this goal, CWP chose to deliver qualifications using a Danish concept known as “Production Education.” This concept focuses on producing, advertising, selling and eventually making a profit from the product. We strive to encourage independence, creativity and entrepreneurial qualities in all of our students - the Production Education concept helps to do just this.

CWP Beauty Room

Beauty Works

“Beauty Works” is our onsite beauty salon. The salon is managed on a daily basis by our beauty students and is open to the public with pre booked appointments. Being involved with the running of the salon, prepares our beauty students for the world of work within the beauty industry. They are given the opportunity to learn and develop new skills from qualified beauty therapists and are encouraged to put their new skills into practice in a safe learning environment.

Our 6 fully equipped beauty zones:

Our Onsite Shop

Aweshop

It is here in which our students can advertise and sell any products that they have made whilst at CWP.  We encourage the students to keep the shop replenished with new stock and come up with new product ideas. We have the technology to take hand drawn designs and turn them into profitable products such as mugs, t-shirts, bags, bottles, posters and greeting cards. We regularly have visitors within the centre and as the shop is based within the reception of CWP it is ideally located for visitors to see products and make a purchase.

We hold regular workshops to encourage new skills.

These include:

Jewellery Making

Cupcake Design

Calligraphy

Photoshop Sessions

Media Works

The “Media Works” provides the perfect space to unleash creativity! With a fully functioning TV studio, performance space, green screen, recording equipment, editing studio, sound proof room and computers equipped with endless software programmes, it is the ideal place to experiment with new ideas.

Students are encouraged to use Media Works to make new products for our Aweshop.

This could include:

Recording a CD

Making a Short Film

Designing Posters

Advertising a Live Performance

Room Hire

Rooms are available for hire in our multi-functional, work-based, learning centre. We offer space for one to one sessions or training and conference facilities for up to twenty-five personnel. Computers, wifi, large screens and projectors are available on request.

The centre is conveniently located off Preston’s high street and in close proximity to the local rail and bus stations.

Training

We offer two main teaching and learning qualifications with flexible start and attendance dates. If required, we can provide access to students, to support the practical elements.

We also offer a range of Health and Safety courses, all designed to support local organisations in complying with the Health and Safety law. Prices start as little as £25 per person and we offer discounts to charities and organisations wanting to purchase multiple licenses.
