Reintroducing Creativity Works Preston

Founded in 2014, Creativity Works Preston (CWP) was created to do things differently.

We exist to support children, young people, and adults who don’t always thrive in traditional academic settings, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those who benefit from a more flexible, practical approach to learning.

Over the past decade, Creativity Works has grown into a trusted provider of inclusive, alternative education, rooted firmly in the needs of the Lancashire area and local community.

A Different Approach to Learning

At Creativity Works, learning doesn’t happen behind a desk all day.

Instead, we focus on hands-on, project-based learning delivered in real-world creative and vocational environments. Our programmes are designed to meet learners where they are, supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence, and personal development alongside practical skill-building.

This approach has proven particularly effective for SEN learners, neurodivergent individuals, and those who may struggle with conventional classroom-based education.

We work with learners aged 13–25, as well as adults (subject to funding), offering flexible pathways that adapt to individual needs, interests, and goals.

Creative Pathways With Recognised Outcomes

All of our practical learning is linked to nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 1, 2, and 3, completed through an e-portfolio system provided by One File. This ensures learners gain meaningful accreditation while developing real-world skills.

Each programme is delivered in a supportive environment, with experienced tutors who understand how to adapt learning to suit different abilities and learning styles.

Rooted in Preston’s Community

Creativity Works Preston is deeply connected to the local community we serve.

We work in partnership with SEN schools, mainstream schools, colleges, local authorities, health services, and community organisations to ensure our provision remains relevant, inclusive, and impactful.

Community-focused projects such as the Musical Express initiative, pamper days, and TV programme recordings bring people together across generations, helping learners build confidence while contributing positively to the wider community.

Our Impact so Far

Since opening our doors in 2014, we’ve supported over 1,000 participants, with engagement and outcomes continuing to grow year on year.

• Participant numbers increased from 38 in 2019 to 125 in 2025
• Positive progression outcomes rose from 53% in 2016 to 87% in 2025
• In the 2024–2025 academic year, we achieved a 94% success rate across vocational learning aims and functional skills in English and Maths

Our fully equipped Hair & Beauty Salon, Film & TV Suite, and Music Recording Studios provide learners with professional environments where skills can be developed with confidence.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow, our focus remains the same:
to provide inclusive, creative education that supports learners to feel confident, capable, and ready for the next step, whether that’s employment, further education, or training.
